Ganderbal, Apr 24 (KNO): The consumers of Power Development Department (PDD) in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district here have complained of unscheduled power cuts, alleging it to be a reason of immense hardships. The residents from several areas including Kangan, Prang, Wussan, Chinnar, Kijpora, Gujarpati Prang, Arahama, Anderwan, Bonizil and Gund expressed their resentment over the frequent power cuts. Residents of these areas said that their respective areas continue to reel under darkness especially in the wee hours of the morning, adding that their children, who are at present appearing in the examinations, were the worst sufferers. “How can we study in the absence of electricity? Instead of resorting to power cuts, the PDD should ensure uninterrupted power supply these days keeping in view the examination session,” students said. Manzoor Ahmad Lone from Kangan Ganderbal said that despite paying huge electricity bills, the department has failed to ensure adequate electricity to them, adding that the locals are being pushed to the wall by forcing them to reel under darkness. Besides, the famous tourist places including Sonamarg and others also witness the unscheduled power cuts at present. They demanded the PDD should ensure uninterrupted power supply. Pertinently, the KPDCL in a message to the consumers said that due to the limited of power generation, the power curtailment will increase and once the availability increase, the restrictions will improve—(KNO)
